About Poet's Pitch

IMG-1862.PNG

You may know the feeling. You step up to the plate. You’re sharing a vivid, enthralling passage by way of one of your poems. As you paint your master piece with curve balls, you can’t help but ask yourself "Are they actually catching every pitch?"

I created Poet’s Pitch with the goal of helping poets demystify their poetry. We dissect profound & complex poetry—taking deep dives into the characteristics of good writing—I hope to help you build a greater appreciation for poetry and even inspire a deeper way of thinking to encourage artistry in writing. And of course, I want everyone to catch every pitch!

"A poet is, before anything else, a person who is passionately in love with language."

W. H. Auden

"Poetry is not only dream and vision; it is the skeleton architecture of our lives. It lays the foundations for a future of change, a bridge across our fears of what has never been before."

Audre Lorde

"If your daily life seems poor, do not blame it; blame yourself that you are not poet enough to call forth its riches; for the Creator, there is no poverty."

Rainer Maria Rilke

"Metaphors, double entendres, and similes are curveballs. Even sophisticated thinkers can miss the small and big pitches."
